Chewy M&M Christmas Cookies

Red & green M&M's, two types of chocolate, and a secret ingredient make these the best M&M Christmas cookies!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour (15 ounces)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 10 oz bag Christmas M&M's, divided

Instructions

  1. Let your butter come to room temperature. Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray, or line with silicone liners. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cream butter and sugars for 2-3 minutes in a large mixing bowl with an electric hand mixer. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and lemon juice just until combined.
  3. Add flour, make a well in the flour. Add baking soda, baking powder, and sat to the well, stir into the flour just a bit.
  4. Add the chocolate chips, half of the M&M's, stir just until all the flour is incorporated.
  5. Use a cookie scoop to scoop dough, then roll into balls. Place on lightly greased or silpat lined cookie sheets. Press a few of the reserved M&M's into the tops of the cookie dough balls.
  6. Bake at 375° for about 8-9 minutes or until edges are light brown and centers are barely set.
  7. Cool on pans for 3-4 minutes, then remove to cooling racks.

Notes

If your dough seems sticky, chill it for 20-30 minutes before rolling your dough balls. If it's to soft, your cookies will spread too much.
