Delight your sweet tooth with these Nutella brownies! You can enjoy moist and gooey chocolatey brownies with a creamy and heavenly Nutella swirl on top.
Stop eating the nutella straight from the jar (I know I’m not the only one!), and surprise your family and friends with these mouth-watering treats instead.
A PERFECT BROWNIE FOR NUTELLA FANS
No judgement from me if you happen to hide a jar of Nutella in your closet so you can sneak spoonfuls when the kids aren’t looking. But trust me, these brownies are even better!
With nutella in the batter, and swirled on top, these brownies are chock full of that chocolate hazelnut spread we all love!
And don’t worry, no fancy ingredients or equipment needed. They are made all in one bowl with ingredients you probably already have on hand.
HOW TO MAKE NUTELLA BROWNIES
- PREP – Spray a 9×13″ pan with non stick cooking spray. (I like to line mine with foil first for easy cleanup.) Preheat your oven to 350°.
- CHOCOLATE – In a large glass bowl, melt the butter. Add the sugar and cocoa powder; whisk until smooth.
- WET INGREDIENTS – Whisk in the eggs, nutella, and vanilla extract.
- DRY INGREDIENTS – Add the flour and salt, stir until smooth.
- ASSEMBLE – Spread the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Drop the remaining 1/2 cup nutella by spoonfuls over the batter. Swirl with a knife.
- BAKE – Bake brownies for 32-40 minutes. You want a toothpick to come out with moist crumbs. If it’s totally clean, they may be overbaked.
- COOL – Let the brownies cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting. They will however, be much easier to cut if you let them cool completely.
Store leftover brownies in an airtight container to preserve freshness. They will keep for 4-5 days at room temperature, but I bet they won’t last that long!
You can also freeze them for up to 4 months. I recommend letting them cool completely, then wrapping them in plastic wrap. Place the wrapped brownies in freezer ziplock bags.
When ready to eat, let them thaw at room temperature, then unwrap. You can also heat them for a few seconds in the microwave, but use caution, they tend to get hot spots!
VARIATIONS:
- Before baking, you can sprinkle coarse sea salt on top. It balances out the sweetness, and looks so pretty.
- Love hazelnuts? Add 3/4-1 cup of chopped hazelnuts to the batter. They add a nice crunch!
- For an even more decadent brownie, stir a cup or two of chocolate chips into the batter.
- Want a treat fancy enough for company? Top a warm brownie with a scoop of ice cream and drizzle with some warmed Nutella. Simply amazing!
Frequently asked questions:
Make sure you don’t over-bake them! For extra gooey, fudgy brownies, you can even underbake them a bit. Melted butter and chocolate also make for a fudgier brownie. Extra flour, eggs, and leavening leads to cakey brownies.
Brownies typically don’t call for leavening like baking powder and soda, because unlike cake, you don’t want them to rise up and be fluffy. They are meant to be dense, fudgy, and chewy!
I have only made these brownies with Nutella®, but I think these would work just fine with other brands. It’s definitely worth a try!
