These yummy four ingredient Marshmallow Popcorn Balls are a simple treat that are perfect for any holiday or gathering. They also make great gifts!
When I was growing up, my mom made this yummy marshmallow popcorn all the time. Sometimes we ate it straight out of the bowl, sometimes she shaped it into balls, and sometimes she pressed it into a cake pan and cut it into slices. No matter how she served it, my five siblings and I always LOVED it! It is ooey, gooey, and simply fantastic!
I’ve had many popcorn balls over the years, and none of them compare to these. They are so tasty! One of the fun things about them is that you can add colorful candy to match any holiday or party theme. My mom often used cut up gumdrops. My teenagers adore Skittles, so this time around I decided to add them. Such a fun fruity addition!
I love the patriotic colors of the Skittles America Mix, and if I can keep my kids from eating all of them, I’ll be trying them out in more recipes this summer. They are perfect for Memorial Day or July 4th, but my son’s high school colors are blue and white, so I can also use them for a graduation party. Score!
These popcorn balls are so simple, you only need 6 ingredients!
Make sure you put your popcorn in a really large bowl, you want plenty of space for stirring all that yummy sauce in!
I bought the Skittles America Mix on Amazon Prime, because hello – free shipping. They are a limited edition, so hop on it if you want to get some for yourself! What are you waiting for? Go grab some Skittles America Mix and make these popcorn balls!

My three kiddos loved these!!! I used our popcorn machine with 1/2 c. kernels. Substituted butter flavor Crisco because of food allergies. Added some enjoy life chocolate chips. I will be surprised if we have any leftover for Halloween 🙂

So glad your kids loved them. Thanks for sharing your variation for my other readers who have food allergies. I bet they were great with chocolate chips!

I wonder how adding chopped up caramel and sea salt would taste in these.
Kara Cook
I’m a fan of caramel and sea salt, so I think it sounds yummy!

I’m thinking of adding green food coloring and red m&m’s for grinch popcorn balls for my little boys teachers at daycare!
Kara Cook
I love that idea! Perfect for Christmas gifts. 🙂

Do you use air popped popcorn or the microwaveable?
Kara Cook
I usually use air popped, but you can use microwave. I’d recommend a light or plain version, so the extra butter and salt doesn’t alter the flavor of the popcorn balls.

I was thinking of making some of these for Christmas treats for my nieces and nephews. How far in advance can I make these? I have some Christmas colored MM’s 🙂
Kara
I have never actually had any left over long enough to test it, but I bet they would be fine for a day or two. I’d wrap them in plastic wrap to keep them more fresh.
Skipper
Thank you!! 🙂 I’ll make them up Christmas Eve. xxxx
Merry Christmas! xx

Skittles has an America mix? Well, I’ll be. Here in Spain I’m lucky if I can find marshmallows, but when I do, popcorn balls!
