Hanging plates on the wall is an easy and inexpensive way to decorate. You can just buy them at the thrift store and spray paint them any color you want! Trust me, even the ugliest of plates can be beautiful. Don’t believe me? Check out my Valentine’s Day plate? Go look, I’ll wait. 🙂
Oh good, you’re back.
I love the look of plates on a wall. What I don’t love? Those ugly plate holders that show at the bottom and top of the plates. I wanted to come up with a way to hang plates so that all you see are the plates.
And I have come up with a solution!!
It started with two plates that I bought for 50¢ each a couple months ago. I had already spray painted them white, so they were ready to go.
I bought a pack of these guys at the Dollar Store:
You don’t need that metal hook at the top, so you can fold it down or cut it off. Sometimes it can interfere with the nail getting into the hole when you hang the plate.
The hangers come with adhesive on the back, but it is not strong enough to hold the weight of plates. So I peeled off the sticker and added super glue.
Now just flip your plate onto the back and attach the hanger. Press firmly on the fabric.
Then let it sit for a couple of hours till it is completely dry.
Now just pound a nail in your wall and use that little metal hole to hang your plate. No ugly plate brackets needed!!
I hung mine above the light switch in my master bathroom. I added a couple of monograms to the plates, hung a knob, then drooped some ribbon over the knob. Pounded in a couple of nails, and hung my plates. Whada ya think?
Some of you might think it is a little strange to hang plates in a bathroom, but I really like how it turned out. And it was cheap and easy. That is always a win in my book!
