Christmas totally snuck up on me this year. Seriously. My mantel never got decorated. Our Christmas letter still hasn’t been sent out. We haven’t sent gifts to Wes’s parents yet. Sigh. When we hung the decorations Thanksgiving weekend, I couldn’t find the wreath for our front door. I kept thinking, “I’ve got to have Wes go look in the shed for that wreath.” Then I’d forget again. Because, you know, I don’t spend all that much time knocking on our front door. 🙂 Now that Christmas is less than two days away, I finally just gave up and put up another wreath. Which means our door has been nekkid for all of December. So Grinch-y.
I had lots of projects that I wanted to share, but I just ran out of time. On the up side, I’m all prepared for blogging next Christmas. 🙂
I still have several yummy recipes that I want to try. And I think it’s perfectly fine to be making Christmas goodies the week after Christmas, don’t you? After all, once January 1st comes along, we’ll all be vowing to eat healthy. At least for a couple of weeks so it looks like we made an effort. Haha!
If you’re like me and still plan on spending a little time in the kitchen the next few days, here are a few of my favorite Christmas recipes. Hope you enjoy them like we do.
Merry Christmas!!
Christmas Morning Waffles: It is a tradition at our house to have waffles with vanilla ice cream and strawberry or raspberry sauce. My entire family looks forward to it!
Mint Brownies: These are a huge hit all year long, but with that pretty green layer, these decadent brownies are perfect for a Christmas cookie tray.
Maraschino Cherry Bars: Quick to throw together, these have been a favorite since I was a little girl.
Almond Sheet Cake: Moist and delicious! The gorgeous red color from the berries make it look so festive!
Saltine Toffee: Tastes like candy, but without all the work. Seriously addicting stuff!
White Chocolate Ginger Cookies: These are hands down my most often requested Christmas treat. The spicy ginger combined with the white chocolate is divine!
Magic Middle Cookies: Perfect for peanut butter lovers, these chocolatey cookies have a creamy peanut butter truffle center. Yum!
Cranberry Eggnog Bread: With a hint of nutmeg, and filled with Craisins, this yummy bread is a favorite– even with my non-Craisin loving boys.
Hershey Mint Kiss Cookie Cups: So pretty on a Christmas cookie tray, and perfect for chocolate-mint lovers like me!
Candy Cane Hershey Kiss Cookies: Another yummy recipe using those addicting candy cane Hershey kisses. Yum!

Those all look so good! I tried the eggnog bread today. It was delicious! Nice moist bread just like you said, with just enough sweetness. Can’t wait to see you!

Ooo… I just pinned a bunch of those and will totally try those in the next week or two… or more… 🙂 Thanks!

Christmas snuck up on me this year, too! I didn’t do nearly all I wanted to do. But, hey, it’s less to take down in a week or so. Christmas isn’t about the wreath on the door anyway! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

So true, so true! I did get to spend lots of time with my husband and kiddos, so it has been a success where it really matters. 🙂
