We are having a busy but great weekend. My son’s birthday party got rained out last week, so we moved it to this afternoon. I was able to finally buy something that I’ve wanted for a long time. I am so excited! Any guesses what it is? I’ll give you one clue: It belongs in the kitchen. 😉
After a slew of dessert recipes, I finally have a main dish to share. Basic man food. Steak and potatoes. The five males at my house were in heaven. Usually when we have steak we just grill it, but we were cleaning out our freezer the other day, and found some meat that needed to be used up. I didn’t have time to marinate or grill, so I decided to try a new recipe. It was really easy and the family loved it. Cooking the potatoes in the microwave makes it come together really fast. I used Durkee Grill Creations Steak Seasoning (Kansas City Style). You can use your favorite steak seasoning, or just use garlic, salt, and pepper.
Steak and Potato Skillet
4-6 potatoes, peeled and sliced
1/3 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
1 # steak (I used sirloin of some type, I can’t remember)
1/2 tsp steak seasoning
1 small onion, diced
2 Tbsp oil
Combine potatoes, water, and salt in a glass bowl. Cover and microwave for 6-10 minutes or till potatoes are tender. Stir occasionally. Drain any excess water. While potatoes are cooking, cut steak into thin strips. Season with garlic pepper. Heat the oil in a skillet to medium high heat and add the steak and onion. Cook till brown. Add the drained potatoes and cook till they start to brown. Add more seasoning if you like. I served mine with a crisp green salad. And homemade ranch dressing. Of course. 😉

That would be awesome! I always love talking to mom’s who have completed the adoption process. It gives me hope that maybe someday we will actually get out of the waiting phase and into the best part. 😉
