Hello peeps!
It’s time for another month of The Creative Carousel!
The theme this month is Spring and Easter. Don’t you just love this time of year?!? The warm weather, the flowers blooming, the trees and bushes budding, the birds chirping. . . ah, it’s glorious!!
I had a hard time coming up with a title for my project this time. Seriously.
“Trash to Treasure Ribbon Wrapped Easter Egg with DIY Milkglass Stand” seemed a tad bit lengthy.
So I shortened it to “Trash to Treasure Easter Egg”. Feel free to call it whatever the heck you’d like. 😉
Trash to Treasure Easter Egg Decoration
Supplies
-Large plastic egg
-Glue
-Primer
-Spray paint
-White acrylic craft paint
-Ribbon and hot glue
-Candlestick holder
First up I made the stand for my Easter eggs. I had an old glass candlestick holder in my stash, but if you don’t have one on hand, they sell them at the Dollar Store.
I wanted it to have the appearance of milk glass, so I gave it a few coats of high gloss white spray paint.
Voila. . .
Now for the Easter egg:
I used a candy filled egg that I saved from last year (emptied of candy of course.) I glued it together using some craft glue.
They make spray paint specifically for plastic, but I couldn’t find it in the color I wanted, so I knew I’d need to prime my eggs first. I was already painting my shelf, so I just brushed on some primer, but you can use spray paint primer if you prefer.
Then I spray painted it with a few coats of ??? spray paint.
After that I used a toothbrush dipped in white paint to fleck some specks on the egg. Tip #1: thinning the paint with a bit of water will make larger flecks. Tip #2: Acrylic craft paint is much easier to get out from under your fingernails than latex paint. Just sayin’.
After it dried, I wrapped it with some sheer white ribbon and plopped it on the “milk glass” candlestick holder.

I have two candlesticks sitting next to the sink right now that I picked up at GoodWill. I’m gonna put an egg on ’em.
