What are the four types of pie?
Pies typically fit into four categories: savory pies (usually with some type of meat), fruit pies, custard pies, and pudding or cream pies.
What is the difference between custard and cream pies?
It’s all about the method of preparation. Both custard and cream (or pudding) pies call for sugar, eggs, and milk or cream in addition to other ingredients.
With a custard pie, the filling is typically poured into a pastry crust, and baked. But for pudding or cream pie recipes, the filling is cooked in a saucepan, then cooled before pouring into a prebaked pie crust.
