Fresh summer peaches star in these homemade peach milkshakes. We think they are even better than the popular milkshake at Chick-fil-A, and they are definitely more affordable!
A fresh peach milkshake is a great way to enjoy juicy peaches during the hot summer months, and you just need four simple ingredients for this recipe. Don’t forget to try my speedy method for peeling peaches!
I’ve been making these milkshakes for decades, and they have always been a favorite summer treat. Now you can find copycat chick-fil-a shake recipes all over the internet, but I still like this version the best.
A little bit of almond extract boosts the peach flavor and makes them simply heavenly. People love it but can’t usually identify it. Trust me, it’s pure magic!
I first published this peach milkshake recipe back in 2008, so I thought it was time to take new photos and add more recipe tips.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PEACH SHAKES
- PREP – Peel and slice your peaches. If you are doubling or tripling this recipe, I recommend using the blanching method below. It’s a speedy way to peel lots of peaches quickly.
- PUREE – Blend all but a few of the peaches and the milk in a blender until very smooth.
- BLEND – Add the ice cream and almond extract and blend until thick and smooth.
- PEACH CHUNKS – Add a few slices of peach and pulse until you have small chunks of fruit. (If you don’t like pieces of fruit in your shake, you can blend all of them with the milk.)
- SERVE – If desired, garnish with whipped cream and a peach slice or a maraschino cherry.
The easiest way to peel peaches
- HEAT WATER – Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat. Make sure the water is deep enough to cover the peaches.
- BLANCH – When the water is at a full boil, drop in the peaches using a slotted spoon. Let them boil for about 30 seconds.
- ICE BATH – Immediately remove the peaches with a slotted spoon and place into a bowl of ice water. Let them sit until cool, adding more ice if needed.
- PEEL – The skin should just slip off of the peaches! If it doesn’t, you needed to boil them a bit longer.
PRO TIPS:
- For the best peach milkshake, make sure you use ripe fruit. It’s sweeter!
- I don’t recommend using canned peaches, they just don’t have the same great flavor.
- Make sure you have a powerful blender. I use my Bosch Universal Plus Stand Mixer 800 watt 6.5-Quarts“>Bosch blender.
- If you want your shakes to look like the ones at Chick-fil-A, top it with canned fresh whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
PEACH MILKSHAKE VARIATIONS:
- A couple tablespoons of frozen orange juice concentrate adds a fresh citrus flavor. You can also use fresh orange juice in place of the milk.
- You can use a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract instead of the almond.
- For a thicker milkshake, you can freeze some of the peach chunks. For a thinner milkshake, add more milk or more fresh peaches.
- 2% is my milk of choice for shakes, but you can use whole milk, half &half, or even almond milk.
