Frozen Oreo Dessert – melt in your mouth delicious, and incredibly easy to make, this oreo dessert is a must make summer treat!
Sometimes the most simple desserts are the best. We also love Easy Frozen Chocolate Pie and 3 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse.
A couple of weeks ago I was in charge of a dinner for the young men/ young women in our ward. We also invited some senior couples in the ward for the youth to get to know. So we were planning on about a hundred people attending. (Yes, I was kind of a basketcase that week.)
We had Cafe Rio Pork Burritos for dinner, because I knew that they are a huge crowd pleaser. I wanted a dessert that was easy to prepare for a large crowd, but that went beyond the brownies with ice cream that is typically served.
I had several packages of Oreos left over from a previous activity, so I decided to use them in something. My Mint Oreo Ice Cream Pie came to mind, but I didn’t want to have to make 10 pies. (Who has that many pie pans?)
I came up with this Frozen Oreo Dessert, and let me tell you, it was a HUGE hit. So many people requested the recipe that I decided I’d better share it here.
It is embarrassingly easy. But it really is amazingly yummy! Since I was feeding a large crowd, I actually doubled the recipe and made it in large jelly roll pans. It worked great!
I actually made two varieties, Cookies & Cream (which is pictured here), and Chocolate Chip Mint. The mint was more popular, which is why this one was leftover and I was able to get a photo of it the next day. Both are delicious! And who doesn’t love ice cream and Oreos?
I topped each slice with some of my homemade hot fudge sauce, but you can use your own recipe, or use store bought if you prefer.
How to make Oreo Ice Cream Dessert
Ingredients:
- butter
- Oreos
- ice cream
- hot fudge sauce
Mix melted butter and Oreo crumbs; press half into a 9×13″ cake pan. Place in the freezer. Let ice cream soften for a few minutes, then spread on top of the crust. Sprinkle remaining Oreo crumbs on top. Cover and freeze for several hours. Cut into squares and drizzle with hot fudge sauce before serving.
How to store this ice cream dessert:
-If covered tightly, it will last for up to a month in the freezer. After you cut into it, I only recommend freezing it for up to a week, or the cut edges tend to get freezer burn.

Easy Frozen Oreo Dessert Recipe
Frozen Oreo Dessert
Easy and irresistible frozen dessert made with buttery Oreo crumbs, a layer of ice cream, and hot fudge sauce.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 (14.3 ounce) package of Oreos, finely crushed (I used my food processor)

Instructions
- Combine melted butter and Oreo crumbs in a small bowl till well mixed.
- Press just over half of the crumbs into a 9×13″ pan. Place in the freezer.

- Remove from the freezer 10-15 minutes before serving. Drizzle each slice with hot fudge sauce.

The recipe handed down from my Gramma was crushed cookies, ice cream, hot fudge layer, then cool whip layer, followed my remaining crushed/ broken cookie pieces. Excellent dessert…just made this last week!!

That sounds delicious! I don’t think I would ever turn down a dessert with Oreos and ice cream. haha
Kathie
Going to make this for the 4th but want to use peanut butter ice cream instead. Love the idea of the chocolate cookies and the peanut butter together

Hi, I didnāt quite get the second step! If possible could anyone just clarify what it is tthat has to be done?!
š
Kara Cook
You just press half of the crumbs into the bottom of your pan to form a crust; and then place the pan in the freezer.
zayn
does it melt quickly ?
does it need to be in the freezer frequently?
Kara Cook
It melts at the same speed as ice cream. Slower if your room temperature is cold, faster if you happen to be eating it outside in the summer. š
Jounn Phirese
Hey! This recipe is a chocoholic’s dream!! But I had a small question…what do you mean by gallon? Could you give me the measure according to kilograms? Because in Kuwait, they dont print in gallons
Love,
Jounn
Kara Cook
Sorry, since I live in the US I have no idea how many kilograms of ice cream are in a gallon. The recipe doesn’t need an exact amount, you can just use enough ice cream till you have it as thick as you like. Good luck!
Teresa
Hi, how many cookies are there in 1 package? Here in the Philippines we have different sizes/quantity in 1 package.
Kara Cook
There are usually about 36 cookies in a package.

I ate the whole pan…

I’ve been tempted on many occasions! š

Hi Kara,
I’m kind of late coming in with recipe questions, but hoping to make your delicious looking dessert tonight! Did you actually process a package of Oreos, cream included, or just the cookie portion? (I feel like I’ve seen package Oreo crumbs before, but if you did the entire oreo, that wouldn’t be the same at all!) I’m referring to your Frozen Oreo Dessert…
Thanks, Kate
Kara
Kate, I used the whole Oreo, cream and all. Sorry I didn’t see your question yesterday. Hope it worked out!
tom
We tried to find oreo cookie crumbs or just the actual cookie without cream filling. They don’t make then anymore.
Emily

Kara
So glad to hear it Traci! And hooray for warm weather! We won’t get quite that warm here, but at least we can shed the winter coats. š
judy
Can this be made ahead of time and kept frozen overnight?
Kara
Yes, definitely! I actually like it better that way because the oreos soften up a bit.
Arjun
Yes! This looks so awesome! However this would still be second best to what I had. I loved the Oreo Cheesecake Cookies.
