Yarn Wrapped Candles – add spring color to your home with these pillar candles wrapped with yarn! They are a quick and easy Easter decoration.
Last year when I was putting together my Easter mantel display, I had two awesome shabby chic candle holders I wanted to use. But all I had was white candles. They needed a pop of color, because the candlesticks are white.
I looked all over the internet for ways to dress up candles, then finally came up with my own idea. I wrapped two pillar candles with different colors of yarn that matched my Easter Egg Banner.
I already had the yarn, so it didn’t cost me anything, and it took about five minutes. And I am happy to report that they withstood a year in storage and look just as great as they did last year. Hooray!
Here’s how to add a little color to plain white candles with a little yarn:
How to Make Yarn Wrapped Candles for Easter
Supplies:
- pillar candles
- yarn
- scissors
- tape or hot glue
-Start with a plain pillar candle.
Take yarn in the color of your choice and secure it to your pillar candle. I used tape, because I thought I would remove the yarn when I was finished so I could reuse the candles somewhere else. But then I liked them so much I ended up keeping the yarn on.
It has held up just fine in storage with just the tape, but you can use hot glue for a more secure hold. It will melt the candles a bit, so be careful.
If you want to use multiple colors like I did, just secure each end of the yarn to the back of the candle. It’s not so pretty on the back, but that’s OK, no one will see it! If you are just using a solid color, you will only need two pieces of tape.
That’s it, now you have some cute yarn wrapped candles!
See, I told you it was easy.
Oh and just in case any of you are worrying, I don’t light these candles because of the yarn. Actually, the only candle that gets lit is our Christmas advent candle. With a house full of active kids, I just don’t want to take any chances.

Is there any danger of fire when the candle is burned?
