Football Field Classroom Valentine Box for Boys . . . your little sports fan with love making this box to hold his classroom valentines!
Like any mom of boys, when Valentine’s Day rolls around, I have to come up with a box to hold classroom valentines. It can’t be pink, ruffly, cute, or have anything at all to do with love! Last year I found a photo of a Football Field Classroom Valentine Box, but couldn’t find any actual instructions. So I came up with my own. And I also had to come up with a football field that could be printed.
Not going to lie- it was a lot of work getting all those lines and numbers right. So I’m sharing it with you, because I want it to be put to good use! The hardest part about this project is making all those little “fans”. If I would have started earlier, I would have had my son help. But he was in bed by the time I got to that part. Hence the less than stellar photos for some of the steps. But they are good enough for you to get the idea, and this was such a hit with my son and his friend that I just had to share. So here ya go:
Football Field Classroom Valentine Box Tutorial
Supplies:
-Shoe box with a hinged lid
-Craft paint and brushes
–Free printable football field
-Wire and wire cutters
-Glue and Duck Tape
Instructions:
1-Paint your shoe box. We painted the bottom black and the top white, but you can do whatever colors you like.
2- Print out the free football field, and trim it to the size of your box. Make sure you leave a white border, that is for the fans in the stadium! Then use a paintbrush handle dipped in paint (or a marker) to make lots of dots to represent the fans.
Now glue the paper to the top of the box. Lookin’ pretty good, right?
Now all that’s left is adding the field goal posts. Cut a piece of wire about 3″ long. Bend it in half. This will be the piece that attaches to the box.
To make the goal post part, cut a piece of wire about 2″ long. Push it through the bended end, and form it into a square shape. You know, so it looks like a goal post. I wrapped mine around an old fork handle. (You will need to make two of these, one for each end.)
It was late, and I was in a hurry, and I forgot to take a photo of the goal post before I added it to the box. Sorry. If you look closely, you can see it on the box.
To attach the goal posts, just poke them through the top of the box. Then unfold the wire under the lid. Cover the wire with Duck Tape to hold it in place.
And there you have it, an awesome Football Field Valentine box that any football loving boy would be proud to take to school!
I know my son was pretty excited about it!
(And wow, I’m noticing that he’s changed a ton since last Valentine’s Day!)

Is there a way to make the field a bigger size?

Some printers have an option to print larger, that would be the easiest. Or you could have it enlarged at a printer. Good luck!
