Bacon Cheddar Biscuits . . . these simple biscuits are mouthwatering on their own, but we also love them dipped in soup. Simply delicious!
When soup weather comes around, I love whipping up tasty side dishes like biscuits and rolls. So yummy dipped in a bowl of hot soup, chowder, or chili!
Bacon. We have a love hat relationship the two of us. I love that it tastes so good in so many things. I hate that it is not a very healthy food. Since I can’t give it up altogether, I use it sparingly.
I’m actually not that fond of eating plain bacon, but I love using it in recipes. When I saw these Bacon Cheese Biscuits at Two Peas and Their Pod, I had to try them.
They are delicious, especially with a bowl of Corn Chowder. They come together super fast, you don’t even need to roll them out. I have made them without the green onions, and my boys prefer them that way. So you can use them if you want, but feel free to omit them. They are full of goodness just with the bacon and cheese.
These biscuits are so simple to make. You can just grate in the butter, although you can use a pastry cutter if you prefer. They only take a few minutes of prep time, and they taste outstanding!
I usually make these into drop biscuits, but this time around I patted the dough out on a floured surface and cut them into squares. It doesn’t affect the taste, but I think it makes them a little prettier. You can use whichever method you prefer.
HOW TO MAKE BACON CHEDDAR BISCUITS
Ingredients needed:
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- sugar
- baking soda
- salt
- butter (I use salted)
- cheddar cheese
- bacon
- buttermilk
- green onions (optional)
Combine dry ingredient in a large mixing bowl. Grate in the butter. (Or you can cut it in with a pastry blender.) Stir in cheese, bacon, and green onions if desired. Add buttermilk and stir lightly till just moistened. Drop by large spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 425° for 15-17 minutes. Brush with melted butter while still hot.
How do you store leftover biscuits?
Store them in an airtight container, or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Biscuits are definitely best fresh, but they will last at room temperature for a couple of days.
What foods go well with biscuits?
Warm biscuits make a great side dish to just about any soup, salad, or main dish, but these are some dishes that we love them with:
- Scrambled eggs and fruit for breakfast
- Ham Broccoli Chowder
- Bacon Corn Chowder
- Chinese Chicken Salad
- Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad
If you love bacon (who doesn’t?) you should really give these biscuits a try! They disappear almost instantly at my house.

Definitely didn’t use the storing recommendation because my family devoured these at dinner. They were such a hit and have already been requested at our next meal too. Thank you for such a wonderful recipe.
